Thank you in advance for taking a few moments to complete this pre–test at this time.

Secondly, you may opt for 3 semester hours of graduate credit from Walden University (EDUC 6950). If you desire graduate credit, you must decide by the end of Week 1; click here for more information.

So let’s get started. Each week's online content is presented in the following format: the opening page (such as this one) will provide you with an overview of the week and an Activity Summary. Next, you will read the individual Lesson Content pages, view the Classroom in Action videos, and read the Tips & Tricks. These pages present information on the concepts and strategies being discussed. Information is being presented in small digestible units. This online presentation technique is called "chunking" and is an example of a research–based best practice in online learning. To display the lesson content pages, click the links located at the bottom of each page or the buttons on the left sidebar.

Week 1 features three required readings and one supplemental reading. First, you will read pages 1–24 from Chapter 1, which will provide you with an introduction to curriculum–specific learning, computers and educational technology, the national technology standards for teachers (NETS–T), and what digital students should know as outlined in the national technology standards for students (NETS–S). The TDC textbook is extensively Web–enhanced and you will learn how to interact in a curriculum– and technology–specific way with the resources available in the various end of chapter materials, which are detailed on pages 30–32. Finally, browse through the end of chapter materials, found on pages 35–44 and at the textbook Web site (scsite.com/tdc6).
